Registration is open for this season’s first two Louisiana Quiz Bowl events. You can register online via the NAQT web registration system (links are included below). This will be the first two chances to qualify for the nation’s most prestigious national championship event, the 2018 NAQT High School National Championship in Atlanta, May 25-27. The first two events will be at Tulane University (French Quarter Kickoff on September 30) and LSU (Spooktacular on October 28th).

Louisiana Quiz Bowl 2017-18 Schedule

The Louisiana Quiz Bowl Alliance is pleased to announce its 2017-2018 schedule of events. We will be hosting events across the state beginning in September. Participating in each event will be eligible to qualify to participate in the 2018 NAQT High School National Championship Tournament that will be hosted at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis on Memorial Day Weekend (May 25-27). This event is the nation’s largest and most prestigious academic championship. More than 300 teams participated in 2017. Please note that these dates are subject to change. The latest information will be available on this website. Each tournament has its own event page that will include logistics information. An online registration form for all these events will be available in late August.

Louisiana All-Star Training

The All-Star training originally scheduled for Labor Day Weekend had to be postponed due to a scheduling conflict. The sessions will be rescheduled for a future date.
These sessions are for students who are interesting in learning advanced techniques for bonuses, categorization, strategy, study skills, tossups, and more. Please note that the number of spots for this opportunity are limited. Students wishing to participate should email as soon as possible to request a spot.

Big Easy Classic at Tulane on April 29th

Louisiana Quiz Bowl Alliance, in coordination with the college quiz bowl teams at Louisiana State University, Louisiana Tech University, Tulane University, and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, is proud to announce that we will host the Big Easy Classic on April 29, 2017 at Tulane University. This tournament will include both varsity and junior varsity divisions. All junior varsity teams can play in this event for FREE. Lunch will be provided for all teams. Louisiana Quiz Bowl Alliance

The Louisiana Quiz Bowl Alliance is a coalition of quiz bowl players, coaches, and professionals dedicated to helping Louisiana’s secondary schools successfully compete with the best academic teams in the nation. The Louisiana Quiz Bowl Alliance includes the quiz bowl programs of Louisiana State University, Louisiana Tech University, Tulane University, and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The Alliance has been hosting top quality academic tournaments since 2013.

Lusher event scheduled for March 4th

On March 4th Lusher Charter School in New Orleans will host a spring invitational quiz bowl event at its uptown campus. The tournament will include a morning round robin to determine seeding, and an afternoon round robin.Trophies will be awarded to the top three teams and there is a possibility of a separate JV bracket if there is interest. This tournament will use questions from NAQT IS-164 and the cost is $60 per team.

Crescent City event on March 18

Mount Carmel Academy is proud to invite all high school quiz bowl teams to attend the Crescent City Invitational on Saturday, March 18th at its Lakeview campus (7027 Milne Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124). To register please email tournament director Kevin Marshall. The tournament will feature Varsity and JV brackets. The tournament will be 20/20 format on NAQT IS-165A. There will be no computational math tossups or bonuses. Jesuit wins NAQT Louisiana!


On Saturday, Jesuit High School won the 2013 NAQT Louisiana event at Archbishop Chapelle. The Jesuit A team of Kevin Yokum, Ian Calamari, Mark Alvarez, and Jim Huang (all 2014) finished the day a perfect 8-0 and defeated the Jesuit B team 405-175 in the final to claim the championship.

Notre Dame (Crowley) and Jesuit C finished third and fourth respectively. Top individual performers were led by junior Yokum and two freshmen, Anthony Stoner (Jesuit B) and Maggie Earles (Chapelle), and two juniors Stanley Dai (Jesuit D) and Winston Faulk (Notre Dame). Full Stats are available here.

Louisiana Quiz Bowl plans to host a number of events during the 2013-2014 school season. Plans for our first event are already under way. We expect the event will be held at Archbishop Chapelle on September 14, 2013. Full details regarding this event and others will be posted when they are available.
