Jesuit A wins Mt. Carmel Invitational

After a closely-fought day of competition, Jesuit A emerged victorious, defeating Jesuit B in the championship match of the Mount Carmel Invitational on December 5.

Both Jesuit teams went undefeated in the preliminary rounds, but a strong performance from Episcopal School of Acadiana A saw them defeat Jesuit A 280-160, eventually leading to a three-way tie in the championship playoff bracket. In the first tiebreaker game, Jesuit B defeated ESA A. Then Jesuit A defeated Jesuit B in the championship match by a score of 320-315. Jesuit A erased a 130-point second-half deficit behind a strong run from their top scorer Anthony Stoner and held a 30 point lead going into the final toss-up. Jesuit B’s William Brown powered the last toss-up, but Jesuit B could only manage 10 points on the ensuing bonus.

The tournament’s top scorers during the preliminary rounds were Anthony Stoner (Jesuit A), Betsy Hogan (Lusher A), Bryce Monier (St. Martin’s A), Caleb Rogers (Jesuit B), and Jakob Ward (Dutchtown).
