Jesuit A wins a tough one at Lusher

Jesuit A lost a close match to Ben Franklin and finished with the same record as Lusher A, but still managed to take home the first place trophy at the Lusher Invitational Tournament on Saturday, November 16.

After sweeping the morning rounds, Jesuit A narrowly lost its first crossover game against Ben Franklin, which won with major contributions from seniors Travis Haycraft and Matt Guo.  Lusher A similarly went undefeated in its morning rounds as well as in its first two crossover games, setting up a final round match-up between the tournament’s top two teams.  In that match, Jesuit A defeated Lusher A 270-265, meaning that both teams finished the day with a 7-1 record.  Each team agreed to a tie-breaker determined by points-per-bonus, with Jesuit A having the advantage.  Lusher A finished second, and Ben Franklin finished third.

Jesuit D won the JV bracket, finishing with a 6-1 record.  Jesuit C finished second, and Lusher B finished third.

Dianna Kissokson from Lusher A was the top overall scorer in the Varsity bracket, while Kevin Yokum from Jesuit A received the second place trophy.  The top scorer in the JV bracket was Betsy Hogan from Lusher C.

The next Louisiana tournament will be held at Dutchtown High School in Geismar, Louisiana on Saturday, January 25.
